Memorial Day weekend in Bend

For the past couple years, we have spent Memorial Day winetasting at Airlie Winery. This year, we opted for something a bit different, and booked a weekend at a log cabin in Bend. Ok, the truth is that my mom and I went to an auction, drank a bit of wine, and then decided we just HAD to bid on this great cabin. And we won. So we went! And it was a lot of fun.

We headed over Friday to spend the night with the Baughmans. Cole was SO excited to see Evan and Stephen and to hang out in the "man cave."

Saturday we met up with my parents and the Klinks. Saturday started off sunny, but soon it was 35 degrees and snowing ... yes, snowing, and it was almost June. Seriously, it was freezing. Once we readjusted our weather expectations, things were better.

Highlights of the weekend - a growler of Deschutes GF beer, playing Pig Mania and cards, the High Desert Museum, exploring and playing in and around the cabin, a great campfire + smore-making sessions, and the hot tub.

As usual, Nathan & Krista took way more photos that we did, and have them posted here. But I did get a few.

My growler!

Cousin Piper

Uncle Scott and Piper came up to visit for the weekend and the kids had so much fun together at Grandma and Grandpa Badgers house! Piper was great with Anna and loved holding her. Meanwhile Cole was running around, showing off for his older cousin. So cute to see the cousin dynamics!

Sunshine!

Finally, some sun! We have been waiting and waiting and waiting ...

Just like you may have been waiting and waiting and waiting for a new blog post! And here I am. Life has been great and busy and all that stuff. The kids are both doing so well and are in such fun stages.

Anna is getting really close to walking. Yesterday she actually went from sitting, to kneeling and then to standing all the way up. And then tonight she did the same, and Cory, Cole and I were watching her. We all got super excited and started clapping, then she started clapping (still standing up) and was smiling so big. And then she sat back down. I'm guessing she will take her first steps soon. Watch out, world! She is still putting EVERYTHING in her mouth. I mean EVERYTHING. Its pretty gross, actually. Luckily she randomly started using a pacifier a couple months ago, which is our go-to when we want to keep her from putting shoes, paper, dirt, etc in her mouth. Oh, and she has two (at least) teeth coming in. The top two are making their way through. She is going to look so different with teeth on both the bottom and top! She will love being able to eat more big people food. Baby food is for ... well, babies! And she isn't so crazy about it. Big fan of bananas, though. She will start going to Johnnies on July 6. I know she is going to love it there.

Cole is getting to be such a big boy. I catch myself staring at sometimes, amazed at how much older he seems - from his face slimming out, to the questions he asks. He is such a sweet, sweet boy. Often telling me he loves me, that I'm the best, and giving big hugs. I'm soaking it all in! He is loving his preschool, Stepping Stones. And has mastered the somersault, crab walk, and "tabletop" move, thanks to their gymnastics class. He is having so much fun with his friends at Johnnies. He loves playing baseball with Cory, going to baseball games (aka stalking Benny) and riding his bike with the other kids in the neighborhood. He has been playing lots with his buddy Justin across the street. It is so nice to live in a neighborhood with so many kids! He's pretty into his clothes these days (preferring basketball shorts and tank tops, usually) and likes to get himself dressed, which can produce some interesting combinations. This morning after he got dressed he looked at himself in the mirror and said "I'm looking at myself, and I look good. Mom, do you think I'm handsome?" Good to be confident, I suppose!

So that's us! Oh, and some exciting news from me - I just accepted a job at OSU! Starting on June 1 I will be the Marketing Manager for Outreach & Engagement. It's a full time gig, but my schedule is flexible and I can work some from home. It's a great fit for me on many levels.

Hoping that the sun keeps shining! We are ready for summer.
